The Story
Munich, Summer of 2009, the idea for Missing Link comes up within a group of people. People with different cultural and personal backgrounds but with one common denominator: the bike. They are talking about bikes, rides, their own experiences in various communities, things they like and dislike.
There is a lot you can like about bikes. Being it freedom, independence, physical training, an environmental-friendly attitude, the mere dislike of mass transportation or the fact of being stuck in traffic all the time. For some it’s the challenge of performing tricks or riding down the mountain on high speed. Whatever the reason may be, those two wheels are always a good companion and a connection to other people.
But still, an artificial division between all the bike-related subcultures and scenes is undeniably present. Not only in our own city Munich but in cities we’ve visited or that friends told us about. This is how we came up with the idea of Missing Link.
Why not create a magazine about all the things that bike enthusiasts are interested in? Without only serving a handful of groups or nationalities but linking together as many cycling cultures as possible from as many countries as possible. No artificial agglomeration of nerdy style-focused stuff along with tedious tech-talk but rather a nice compilation of articles and reviews about events, communities all over the world, rides and tours, eco-movements, political or nonpolitical bike related topics and many more.
We call on YOU, the readers and bike enthusiasts, to cooperate with us, to break down boundaries and create your own Missing Link that connects us all. So send us your opinions, write your own articles and reviews, send us photos and footage of whatever is worth to be shown. In any language you want.
Ride on and spread the word.
